I've never thought of it that way. I've agreed with Korgscrew, because that's the obvious thing, and it connects with the events in his life and record contract at that period. Make Make is definately an attack on commercialism, directly mentioning Virgin Records. No Dream is a hard one for me, and your theory as to the meaning is the better than any I can come up with. It feels to me like a reflection on the hopelessness of corporate culture and the hurt it can cause. Mr. Shame may be about someone who regrets the above corporate culture. The song does mention a 'money bug'. Gimme Back is probably about Mike's relationship with Virgin, as he felt he was being held back, hence Gimme Back. Heaven's Open is a song os pure joy, and is my favourite song of his ever. It is probably about his joy at leaving Virgin. Not very nice I know, but when you look at it this way none of the songs are nice.
