OK. Then what is the one released in 1983? Is it a remaster, or exactly the same?

Cinos was refering to the CD, not the album. In 1973 CDs didn't exist so it would have been a little complicated. The original album was released in 1973 but the first CD version was done in 1983 according with the Amarok Mailing List webpage. There you will also find lots of interesting information about reissues  ;)

1983 was also the first time music CD's became available. So any CD's supposedly dating from before that have either the wrong date on them or are fakes.

Apologies. It was too early in the day for me to read the title of the thread correctly.  :p

It was released in 1983 and it was one of the quite few specially selected titles in the very first series of CD's that was released, totally, from all record companies (even though it was a bit delayed, I remember). I bought it in 1983 as I was one of the first to by a cd-player and cd's in Gothenburg, Sweden. I said then that the cd-media would take over from vinyl in about 5-6 years, nobody believed me but I became right.

1983 is right for I bought my copy back then. It was one of very few CDs available along with Peter Gabriels IV, Dire Straits Love Over Gold, The Lexicon Of Love by ABC and others.

Crises soon followed and in 1984 Discovery and The Killing fields made way for the back catalogue of Mikes releases shortly after. ;)
