Hello,  :)

Does anyone know if Mike still have Jeremy Parker as his personal assistant ?

He did during the 80-ties and early 90-ties. Parker is mentioned on the Crises cover as "Jeremy of the thousand buttons", as well as co-writing "Rite of man". I know he helped Mike during the Then and Now tour.

Isn't he still Mike's PA? At least he was involved in selling some of Mike's guitars a couple of years ago.

He wasn't Mike's personal assistant from 1999, I thought, as Caroline Monk took the job. I think Mike has no personal assistant nowadays... and if good old Jeremy plays tennis with Mike, for sure he has lost some weigh, or Mike is always the winner!!!  :-)

The Man of the Thousand Buttons was someone called Pedro, not Jeremy!!

Another man that change jobs was the technician advisor, Richard Barrie, after some good job in the 80's.

I last spoke to Jeremy Parker about 2 years ago when he was offering for sale a Washburn Mirage Deluxe guitar that Mike had given him after a tour. He called me a little later to say he was now selling the Formatic 300e Mercedes that Mike had - registration no. MGO  648. It had done 170,000 miles and Mike had owned it right up to 2003. It was not the one he dented in Ibiza and I don't know who it went to.

Although Jeremy is no longer Mike's PA he may still be in regular contact. With Mike moving away from Buckinghamshire, however, it could be less frequent.
He gave me his telephone number quite freely but I'm not going to pass it on as it was only to sell the goods.
I had a very good interview with him and Richard Barrie at the time recordings for Tubular Bells 2 started. It was featured in an issue of Airborne magazine at the time.

You only have to click on Profile.

I'm a long time Mike Oldfield fan and a semi official magazine editor on his life and works. I have met the man and a lot of the people he has worked with - mostly through luck really.
Over the last 30 years I've built up a formidable collection of his records, CDs and memorabilia (oh, and instruments).

Jeremy Parker obviously became the most reliable source of information - long before the internet.
