Part 2. It has a much better "flow" of the sound. Part 1 sounds like a collection of different pieces made into a single, long track, whereas part 2 has a much more organic quality to it, the different parts fit together with each other and the whole composition in a far better way.

In my view, the exact opposite is true: that Side 1 flows better and is more organic, and that Side 2 is a collection of different pieces made into a single long track! amazing how the same music can do different things.

Impossible to say. I love them both. They complete each other. Like good ol' rice 'n' beans.

Overall, I'd say Part One, but, having said that, the acoustic guitar part a few minutes into Part Two is my favourite part of the whole album.

Definately Part One for me. Sysiyo is right, it doesn't flow like Part Two does, but rather it is a collection of individual pieces, and I love all of those pieces! Part Two doesn't seem as exciting for me.

Part 1 for me too. If part 2 had never existed, I'd have been happy to accept part 1 as a complete work in itself.

But I'd prefer to keep both, of course!

Bufh, I cannot clearly choose. As Sir Mustapha has said, I think they complement each other. Maybe I like more sections in Part One than in Part Two, but I think that if P2 was too similar to P1 I would end a little bored; it's for me the best way to continue. I surely wouldn't like it so much if it was the opposite.

Oh, wait! Are you asking which one is better or which one we prefer? In the first case, I think Part One is better, though I'm not a musician.

I like Part One more because the fragmented feel shows how Mike can jump from one thing to another.

I voted for Part 1, but i have to say, TB2003 has given me a whole new perspective on Part 2, not that it was'nt already great, but the new recording brings it all out more i feel.

The first part, for sure.

I fell in love with the last part of part I (the part where he adds another instrument each time), way back when it first came out in '73, and the love hasn't gone over.

Mind you: I fell in love with the same part on Tubular Bells II all over. But that's for another poll.

For me personally, I like the first part more than the rest. I find the finale of that part really brilliant. But my opinion is that the Bell of Tubular Bells 2 is much better than the finale of the Bell, although they are similar.

Did originally vote for Part 2,  Love The Piltdown Man Section, also what is "Ambient Guitars" on TB 2003, and the Sailors Hornpipe, on Part 1 like the Opening/ "Exorcist" Part. Also love the build up to where Viv Stanshall introduces the instruments , and Viv's delivery of this.

Part1 without  Part 2 is like having strawberries without cream, fish without chips, Laurel without Hardy, so both parts form a double up, it wouldn't be right to separate them  :)  ;) .

....which is? I'm guessing "Exorcist", but there are other great themes.

Alan, thanks for articulating my sentiments exactly. I agree.
