I've been playing both a bit, the demos, and they seem very relaxing and interesting.  :) ¨

However, two of it might be a bit too much, so I am asking; which should I buy? Which is the tastier experience?  :/

I've got both, or rather had both, I've since ditched my PC and bought a Mac. Tres Lunas has got tons more music and in my opinion much more interesting worlds to discover. Maestro has slightly superior graphics but they annoyingly sway around. Put it this way I got a lot, lot more fun out of Tres Lunas and I didn't play Mestro much. I don't know what others think but I got the impression Maestro wasn't as popular.

I couldn't agree more with that. Tres Lunas has a nice navigation system and a worth buch of background music. The navigation system for Maestro is so complicated, the background music is just a couple of loops with roar sound, althogh maybe the graphics are better. Anyway, my choose would be Tres Lunas, without any doubt.

hi cinos,
i think the best way to compare would be to get both, but if u have to choose, i'd start with tr3s lunas and this is for several reasons.
first maybe because of the music, tr3s lunas is full of wonderful bits of music as u may know, bits like the 'owl's cave flight' or 'sprites' or 'return to the origin' just to name some.
however, it isn't just this but also something related to the places in the game themselves, they are beautifully built, like the underwater water castle or tai chi island. it's so pleasant to have a flight among the trees in the forest or with pegasus or skate through no man's land. in tr3s lunas u will find dreams, really.

imho maestro is very different, i appreciate it cause it's evident a lot of effort was put on it, there are bits that i love, such as the section where u have to free the birds from the cages or the acrobats flight (really really beautiful) or the crazy jets game, great fun, but it's mood is darker and more serious which is not bad, but it makes me feel trapped. i miss more light and music in there.

after have been exploring tr3s lunas for three years now, i know i will always go back to it like i go back to some other mike's works. any time i go there, i'm again impressed by its beauty, even more since we found there's more room to explore beyond the barriers.

i'm thinking that u may like to have a look at the pics we've been taking from both games, they are in the gallery at oldfield.info and if some day u feel like playing online, u can go to musicvr.com where people arrange games to play together and make expeditions. playing online u will find a few people glad to be with u n your first steps into mvr :)

and now that we are comparing both games, if someone asked me.. my idea would be to join them in just one universe in which maestro would be a world inside tr3s lunas. i'd "draw" a gate to it from the spaceship.
cu soon?

If one buys the Tr3s Lunas album, is there the full version of the game included? (I admit not owning TL yet, and I probably never will, I just dislike it as an album... but if there was the full game included, I might try it)

The game is included but you need to purchase a registration code in order to play it.

I've gone off games at the moment, but Tres Lunas is escapist unlike most games nowadays so perhaps I will get that sometime when I need to escape from coursework for a few hours!  :)

I'm going against the popular opinion here when I say I prefer Maestro.

Tres Lunas is beautiful in it's music and atmosphere, especially the snowy owl flight, and I find it relaxing in a 'wandering around looking' kind of way.  But I love Maestro's darkness, structure and it's complexity and the sense of achievement when it's completed.  The avatars take a bit of practice to use - a lot more than Tres Lunas!

A lot has been said about the lack of music in Maestro, but, for me, it's part of the attraction  - and it was always meant to be a game,  not an album... although apparently some hooks have been used in the new album!

So, to sum up..

TL has the music, the great music/visual trips such as Owl and Dolphins, but is limited in scope and is finished quickly.

Maestro is much larger in scale and complexity, and offers 2 tasks (maestro level and medal collection), but has little new music.

Different games for different moods. Erm, like TL is the Ommadawn, to explore and wonder in. Maestro is the TB3, to be analysed and more edgy.

Don't know if that helps.

The answer is 42 - but what is the question?

I'm going to quibble with Andy's summary. Tr3s Lunas is only 'finished quickly' if you regard it as a goal-oriented game. Regarded as something more than a mere game, its scope is far less limited than Maestro.

María gives a good description of it. It's a place where new and beautiful dreams can be experienced, either alone, or in the company of others. Once the two main goals in Maestro have been completed, really, there are only repeats of the same experiences to be had. But Tr3s Lunas goes on and on surprising me, drawing me back time and again. After three years it can still make me gasp with admiration at some new (or old) combination of experiences.

It's stored on your hard drive - the disc isn't needed after installation. Maestro and Tres Lunas together take up about 500 MB on my machine.

The complete game is on the disc, and needs online registration to unlock it.

So yeah, I got Tres Lunas and I like it. Now, the question is, is Maestro worth purchasing at all? (when I get my next paycheck. :p)  Are there any any of memorable moments and beautiful sequences Tres Lunas had in it?

The demo was kind of boring... a lot of empty caverns and not much else.

I've never for a moment regretting buying Maestro, and yes there are many fantastic experiences in it. (Try flying along those tunnels with a few friends and you definitely won't find them boring.) There's a sequence where you are transferred from one spaceship to another which is utterly awesome, with very appropriate music. And when you've flown through the night sky with a bunch of spirit-like acrobats to the accompaniment of 'Ambient Guitars', you'll never forget it. Achieving Maestro will transport you to a place where you'll hear some of Mike's most joyful and good-humoured music.

My only reservation about Maestro is that I never grew to love it in the way I did Tr3s Lunas. It's darker in feeling; enclosed. But it will certainly provide you with many, many hours of wonderful playing, and it's definitely worth the (relatively small) purchase price.
