Aaah poor old Pepsi she wasn`t up for the "challenge"  :p

She was never really the same since she split up with Shirley imo.Yeah ok different pepsi I know, but I once dated a girl who was the spitting double of Shirley so I just thought I`d mention it.She went off and married Martin Kemp out of Spandau Ballet you know.Shirley that is,not this girl I went out with.I think she ended up in counciling with an identity crises or something.Blimey I think I`m halfway there myself, cut to the chase.

Personaly I would`ve went for Maddy Prior before the wee flame-haired scottish songstress. But I do like Maggie all the same admittedly.Anyway I`ll go for Mr Phillips,he`s a great drummer and he and Mike seemed to work very well together.Plus if Mike was working with a real-life drummer, then it would be a fair bet that Mike would be plugging in and playing some "real" instruments himself. One can dream.

I thought this thread specificaly requested a kidnapping?.. :p

"Excuse me Miss Reilly, but would you mind awfully if I threw you into the back of this van and tied you up for a while"?

Yeah on second thoughts I probably would go for Maggs after due consideration.Nothing untowards there you understand. It`s just that Phillips looks like he might be a little handy.

I think we should kidnap Mike himself
and force him to record with Simon and Maggie again.

Ironically Maggie still guests now and then on TV shows performing... guess what... "Moonlight Shadow". Even if someone kidnapped her, I don't think she'd ever accept to appear on stage with Mike in one of his big shows... she's too fat for that. :D

The music that Mike is making right now doesn't need Simon Phillips' explosive drumming, so we'd better leave him alone IMHO.

I would kidnap one-time Mrs. Oldfield, Anita Hegerland, and have her sing "Islands". Also Kevin Ayers. Indeed, a live-with-orchestra concert performance of the full Islands album would be great. :)

That's exactly the reason why I should force him to work with Simon again.

Isn't that Bonnie's song? How about bringing Bonnie in to sing "Islands" and Anita for "Northpoint" (..have you ever been to Northpoint..). You might have to tie her up and gag her though to get her on stage with Mike. These days she might not even care whether or not he's been to Northpoint (..to spend his time and pray..) - she does ask the question very beautifully though.

If Mike is making the kind of music right now that he made on MOTS with a full-scale orchestra. Then all I can say is he must have one hell of a bloody sized boat.Just as well we don`t need to kidnap all those guys,we`d never get them all in the van.Not to mention the amount of rope & chloroform you`d need.

Well if we can get Matt on the job - he knows how to handle Anita, and then we might not need the rope and chloroform...

:D Well if Matt`s charm and persuasion can coax Anita into re-doing Islands that`ll be Ugo happy at least.

A few years ago when Sunderland appointed Howard Wilkinson as their new manager after he`d been out of the game for about 10 years. One Sunderland fan commented.."We were waiting for Britney Spears and we ended up with Bonnie Tyler"..   :p

I considered Maggie Reilly, but I think all three of the oldfields-Sally, Terry and Mike should make one album together, then continue being solo artists.  But i'm not sure if they would be able to work together without rebelling against eachother, in a light hearted way though.

To see the oldfield clan corroborating on a re release, incantations would be wonderful, a chance for sally and terry to be acknowledged for their talent working with mike in the  past, how about it mike? deb

If you could i'd like to see Mike work Pierre Moerlin again.Such a shame he's no longer with us.But i think Simon Philips pips it over Maggie. As much as i love Maggies voice someone else her noticed that after Simon left the fold Mike's drum tracks are a bit naff.See guitars for all the proof could want.Synths and computers do not sound as good as a real drummer. They may be difficult, need to be fed raw meat and be on the whole disfunctional as normal human beings (they want to hit things for a living for gods sake)but they sound better than any machine.
Drummer jokes....
Q)How do you tell if the stage isn't level?
A) The drummer only dribbles out of one side of his mouth.

Q)What's the difference between a drum a machine and a drummer?
A)You only have to punch the information into a drum machine once.

Come back Simon.
