Hi everyone, to anyone who is artistic to any degree in Hampshire. Winchester is looking for somebody to write a script about King Alfred, what he did for Winchester, and how he contributed to modern day England.
The winner will win a monetary prize, and their play staged at Winchester Theatre Royal. In 2010, the play will be staged as a street theatre piece, as part of a huge pageant in Winchester, in memory of King Alfred.
They want artists, musicians, actors, dancers, people to dress in anglo-saxon costumes etc. So even if people don't want to do writing they can do these things.
I was reading up on King Alfred, and he was born in Reading, and Mike Oldfield shares his birth day with a bishop freind of King Alfred.
