Hey nice find Bill. The making of TB2 stuff is ace, heard these tracks but never seen the footage until now. Mike playing Taurus 3 on Breakfast TV is jaw-droppingly good, he should do more complex acoustic stuff like this.

Yeah the Islands footage is naff, though Mike himself doesn't look to comfortable about it.

Its a shame the Orabidoo live footage from 93 is so bad quality, still Mike's greatest guitar moment if you ask me.

Does anybody know how google video works? Can anybody up load stuff to it? There's some amazing live footage of Platinum and Taurus 1 been uploaded by someone since I last visited. Check it out it totally rocks.

edit. The footage of Taurus 1 is just incredible, Mike's guitar playing is out of this world, i love it when he plays bass at the end and Morris Pert's drumming is amazing. Why can't Mike write mind blowingly powerful rock intrumental stuff like this with a real sense of inspired musicianship instead of bed wetting new age dross. (sorry the be so cruel)

Yes, anyone can upload videos.  They must be approved before being made available to the public however.  I have uploaded three of my own.

You probably need broadband to stream them but you can always just download them straight to your hard drive, might take a while though.

I think TOAA on L+S proved you're maybe right Ian and maybe I was being a bit unkind calling all his recent stuff 'bed wetting new-age dross' (I'd had a few drinks) Mike's stuff is just so much more amazing with alll the interplay of 'live' and 'real' instruments, Taurus 1 is just incredible can't wait for the DVD of this concert.

Toby, how can I download the videos? All I get is a link and not the file.

Interesting watching them. I didn't even know they filmed Tubular Bells 2 in the making. It really shows his huge talent as a musician with amazing ability. I will upload some of my rare vids.

There should be a download button to the right of the screen that automatically downloads to your desktop.

Yeah the making of TB2 stuff is amazing, there have been mp3 rips of this stuff doing the rounds on the web for a while now but this is the first time I've seen the video footage that goes with them. I still prefer these rough versions to anything that made it onto the final album, way more organic and generally 'alive' sounding. The acoustic guitar improv is a particular favourite.

Mike's two different performances of Taurus 3 are also pretty jaw dropping, with a technical ability like that its just a crying shame he hasn't really wrtiten more music like it, certainly in recent years.

I can only see 1 version of Taurus 3. I can just about play it myself but not quite as Mike. He does make you sick  :p

Its funny, some recent photos of him he looks ok but others he looks very old. Mind you, don't we all ha ha  :D  He was a very handsome chappy though.

Everytime I click on the Download icon it says instantly that it has downloaded. When I look at the file its aonly a link, a few K bytes.

I tried uploading a 3 minuite video of Mike doing Moonlight shadow on top of the pops but not only am I worried I will get sued by the BBC for putting it up, it ws taking absolutley aaaaaaages and I have broadband too. So I gave up.

I doubt you'll get sued by the BBC, its Google's problem if they choose to let it stay there.

There are two performances of Taurus 3, one on Breakfast TV (from 1988 possibly?) in which he plays a bit from Amarok tagged onto the end. And then another performance from MTV where the presenter plays along with him.

Go here Taurus 3

and here Taurus 3

Amazing

Yes, sorry, I remember now there are 2. The Australian guy interviewing him. I have that on video somewhere. V funny, Mike trying to look mad and really he looks silly.

I will have a go at uploading it again. Its a good one of Mike pretending to play the acoustic strum on Moonlight Shadow when he's blatantly miming with an electric. Also, he is wearing a sweat band with his name on it. Say no more. Fantastic song though. Classic.
