I know this doesn't really fit anywhere on the site but I couldn't think of where else to post.

I've been looking for a while now for the electronic theme that plays at the very end of the X-Files movie while the credits begin to roll. It was one of the coolest things I've ever heard. Very creative and catchy. Anybody have any idea who made it, what it's called, or where I can find an MP3 or something of it? Or maybe where you can direct me to some people who might know?

It's called "Teotihuacan" by Noel Gallagher. it is a great song (and i'm learning how to play it on piano! )

Thanks a lot I found it! Great song! It seems to be mixed differently on the movie than on the soundtrack version. I liked the movie version better, but this does not lack! Great song. One of the few modern songs that isn't Oldfield that actually has feeling and is inspired.

yes, it is a great song indeed. and the soundtrack of the album is a little different than what was actually played in the movie. either way, it's a great piece of work.

Well, now that I've downloaded [from Kazaa] and listened to this, I must admit I'm kind of split in two over it. One half of me absolutely hates it ["What's this sound-effects-burdened shit?" :D], the other half of me admires it for how good it sounds... not necessarily for how good it is. :) Maybe I'm crazy, I don't know.    What I know is that I've always been a fan of Mark Snow's work on the X-Files TV show and the other ones (e.g. Millennium), I've always loved his ethereal cues. But this one... ahem. ;) I guess it will take another three of four consecutive listenings before I say something either terribly bad or terribly good about it. :D

Just a note...this song was not made by Mark Snow. It was made by Noel Gallagher (from Oasis right?). I've gotten to the place now where I don't care how it was made or what style it is or anything. After all that's how I got to love Mike Oldfield in the first place! My standpoint now is, if it sounds good to my ears then I like it. Sound effects can actually enhance music. Look at Amarok. There is beauty and true inspiration in ever form of music you just have to find it. This song to me isn't some electronic song someone just made and is just a bunch of sounds. There's an actual theme here and actual emotion. I don't care how electronic it is, the emotion and inspiration is all I care about.

Brandon: I know that the piece isn't Mark Snow's. I was only mentioning him in reference to the (original) X-Files theme. And about sound effects: they usually don't trouble me [I think Pink Floyd are the kings of sound effects on records, and I love all of their output... :)], but on the first listening of the piece I just felt that there were a little bit too many of 'em. I agree with you that the main theme is beautiful, it really is. But I guess, as I said above, that it'll take another three or four listenings, trying to really pay attention to what goes on underneath all the stuff :), to fully appreciate it.

And of course my post above is not (as always) entirely serious. :)

Well to each his own :). I actually think the too-much-ness works with the song, though.

Of course. I always consider this whenever I see a post of yours ;).
