Hi folks, here is a very rare video document. It´s a very interesting video document about the composer David Bedford. And the best:
There is a small exception of a Live "Odyssee" concert with
young Mike on guitar....it starts at 3:10

Genius.!!!!!

So good to see this footage, I remember it being broadcast.
Looking at the D Bedford facebook page there is loads of footage available....featuring Mike.
I hope we get to see it.!!!!

Can anyone identify the hardware sequencer shown at around 12'05"? I am guessing that this would be the same (or even the actual) that Mike used, initially and sparingly on Ommadawn, then extensively on Incantations.

The sequencer was made by Korg. It probably predated the SQ-10(or was it an SQ-10, hard to see on the little window). I met a guy in 1980 who owned one. Using an ARP-AXXE he had to tune each knob/note by ear individually. A long process. I read an interview with Rick Wakeman, while on tour with YES he used one of these for a certain yessong and always taped a sheet of paper over it saying "DO NOT UNPLUG THIS!" Because before every show he had to manually tune it and unplugging it erased everything. Then when "this thing was supposed to kick in, all you could hear was me saying SHIT!".

Hmm, thanks Scatterplot, but it doesn't look much like the Korg as shown here:

http://www.vintagesynth.com/korg/sq10.php

or even a predecessor? It looks a lot more basic?

(btw, you can watch the video in full screen here):

Interestingly, it does seem to have 12 steps (if you listen to the basic sequence played in the clip)...which might explain why most (all?) of the sequencer arpeggios in Incantations are in triplets?!
