If you were auditioning for the likes of X Factor - what song would you choose?

... a song that shows your skill off -

My song - [if I had the voice for it]

1) "Someone like You " - Adele

or -

2) "You Got The Love" - Florence and the Machine

3) "Wuthering Heights" - Kate Bush

4) "Umbrella" - Rihanna

5) "I will always Love You" - Whitney Houston

:D

"Limelight" by The Alan Parsons Project. Only that one. No 2 or 3 or 4 or 5. If I felt I can't sing that one, I wouldn't go. :)

If you can't sing it doesn't matter - you pretend. :)

You've to choose a song with a wide vocal range and a warble that would make a good audition song?

Like, if I was a man I might chose -

Mack the Knife

or

Pride (In the Name of Love)  - U2

UMmmmmmmmmmm let's think a while------------------------
It's a little bit funny  but I've got a feeling inside that "Your Song" would be a headache to the judges as it is one of the most sung songs of all time by the OKEY DOKY KARAOKE crowds & crooners, A wonderful song but maybe not a winner unless you can make it unique or original in some way. :/

I may go for "Send in the Clowns" the Johnny Mathis version.

But to stand out I think I would go a step further & opt for David Bowie's "LIFE ON MARS". :O

I'm glad this audition thread has become a real hit. ;)

I think any Bowie song would make a good audition song. Someone on X Factor did "Moonage Daydream" - but he was just shouting it - funny to watch though.

I would chose "This is not America" - starts in low bass and then almost soprano as he sings the line ..."there was a time a storm that blew so pure..." :O

"Rachel", Russell Morris. Especially the chorus, with me playing the part of Rachel.  :O

That would be a hard on to sing without any backing music nightspore! as this is how they do the auditions in the X Factor in the UK show, thus you need something that has a busy vocal part that leads & carries the tune.

Not as hard as Russell's "The Real Thing", I1  :D  By the way, the idea that Johnny Young wrote this song is, of course, ridiculous

I'd have a go at "Solisbury Hill". Good sing a long song to get the audience behind me, easy to remember lyrics.

Mind you it hasn't really got enough "cheese factor" - no key change, big belting notes etc. And I don't have a sob story about it "all being for our Gran" and "it's all I've evre wanted"

Maybe I should chose "Make Make"?

I can't sing a note, so it would probably be a waste of time  ;) ...but then again, maybe not :) however I'd go for Talking Heads' instantly recognisable

Road to Nowhere

Well we know where where we're goin'
But we don't know where we've been,
And we know what we're knowin'
But we can't say what we've seen...
