Vinyl Album was Flying High by the "Western band of the Royal Air Force". T'was a birthday present to go along with my first record player when I was young. Favourite track I recall being "Dambusters"...

First single was another gift the same day - Love me love my dog by Peter Shelley.

CD, Hmmm, I *think* if memory serves me right it was "Propaganda, A Secret Wish". I'd already got the vinyl album then and thought it would be a good one to try out the new CD player. Favourite track was (and still is) "Duel"...

Takes me back :). Wonder what the current generation will remember? First spotify track? First iTunes purchase? Doesn't quite seem the same somehow....

My first LP was actually Hergest Ridge! I was 10 years old and the year was 1983. Favorite track? A close tie between part 1 and part 2 actually....hehe

First CD was either Syd Barrett's Madcap Laughs or Jean Michel Jarre's Zoolook. The year was 1990. I didn't own a CD player yet but in the case of "Madcap" it wasn't available on vinyl at the time.

Fave track from Madcap: No Good Trying
Favorite Zoolook track: Ethnicolor.

Nice topic, nostalgic.

First LP Meatloaf, bat out of hell.   Favourite track the title song
First CD Vangelis Mask. No favourite, don't like it that much. My favourite Vangelis is Heaven and Hell.

Sometimes I also try to remember how I picked stuff up.
I'm a great fan of Genesis but I really can't remember how I got in touch with it.
Mike oldfield must have been because of In dulci jubilo, it was on tv.

Absolutely hate Bohemian Rapsody (am I the only one) :(

First LP, I'm not sure, as there's always been music in my house - my mom used to buy albums for me. However, the first album I remember buying with my own money was Una giornata uggiosa by Lucio Battisti. He was, as usual, very ahead of his own time (in that case 1980), because he was one of the first Italian singers-songwriters to record his stuff in the UK with an UK producer and UK musicians. Many others followed suit after him.

First CD? Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet. It was a huge chart hit down here at the time. I always liked Bon Jovi's own brand of hard rock (back then they told me it was heavy metal!!) and I still like it.

My first single was a Xmas present - Wizzards "I Wish it could be Christmas Every Day". I was probably about 10 years old. But I loved the weird instrumental b-side muched better. A sign of things to come.

First Album? I "borrowed" Ommadawn from the leader of the local church's "Yoof" group. The church thing didn't last, but a love of Mike's work has gone on a lifetime.

First CD? Really can't remember, I was working in radio Shack/Tandy and had a deal with the local record shop to borrow CD's each week for demo purposes. So it was probably something really naff like Dire Straits.

Ahhh, I remember it clearly. The first LP I bought with my own money was Mike Oldfields Airborn. I picked it up at a local five and dime. (Remember when just about every store had a record section). Still have it too, along with a bunch of other MO LP's, although I no longer have a turntable to play it on. Most everything else I now have on CD, except on old cassette tape, which I have never found a re-release of... Impressions.
