I recently discovered that if you use the "LEAD" distortion using the regular compressor, directly inject to the mixer, u can get a sound very similar to mike's distortion sound in the early 90's.
Dont use the Amp Simulator!
Set the compressor to 25% compression sensitivity and 0 attack time.

I use a Fender Start + using the bridge X center pickup - the result is awsome.
